With contact Links, this issue is resolved. What you should do is go to your contacts App via the Phone App or directly via the Contacts App. Find the contact that you would be the master contact. Press edit on the upper right hand side of the contact. Once you are in the edit screen, scroll down until you get to linked contacts. Link your business phone number to your mobile device through the Vonage Business Communications Mobile App. Using the Mobile App, you and your employees can make and receive business calls—and even make video calls—while you remain integrated with the full business phone system.

Unlike our Extensions® App, you do not need Vonage home service to use this app.

With the Vonage Mobile app, you can:

  • Link your phone number to up to five other devices, then make and receive calls from any linked device, where incoming calls ring all linked devices.
  • Share photos and exchange calls and chat messaging, including video, with other Vonage Mobile users for free.
  • Add funds to your account to place low cost calls to more than 200 locations. Funds can be added from and shared across all linked devices.

Have a Vonage Home Phone? Download the Extensions® App and take your Vonage home phone wherever you go. There is no need to purchase 'talk time' and any calls not included in your calling plan are itemized on your bill.

**Inactivity Charge: Vonage Mobile will deduct a per month inactivity charge of $1.00 from your account after six (6) consecutive months of inactivity until the balance reaches zero. At Vonage’s sole discretion, we will make commercially reasonable efforts to notify you of this fee via SMS message, in-app notification, push notification, or email. You will receive email notification prior to the Inactivity Fee being placed against your account. Once you resume making calls, the Inactivity Fee is no longer assessed.

  1. Go to your app store.
  2. Search for Vonage Mobile.
  3. Install the app.
Set Up Vonage Mobile

Initial Setup on Primary Device

  1. Open Vonage Mobile and tap Create Vonage Mobile Account.
  2. Enter account details (Email Address, Password and Phone Number).
  3. Accept terms and policies then tap Create Account.
  4. Retrieve Activation Code from the text message (SMS).
  5. Enter code and tap Next. (On Androids, code is automatically populated.)
  6. Choose whether to allow access to the phone's native Address Book/Contact list.
IMPORTANT: If Don't Allow is clicked, you can only place domestic calls and low cost calls to international phone numbers.

App Updates

Some phones allow automatic updates for apps, meaning your Vonage Mobile app will update too. Otherwise, you must go to your app store.
Link Up to Five Mobile Devices
  1. Download Vonage Mobile on the device you want to link.
  2. Sign in as an existing user using account details of the primary account holder.

Credit Amounts

LinkPurchase talk time credits in increments of $4.99, $9.99, $14.99, $19.99 (up to $50).
On Apple, your credit never expires. On Android, your credit expires one year after purchase date.


Make a Purchase

  1. Tap More (iOS) or Credit Balance icon (Android).
  2. Tap Add Credit select talk time increment.

Check Rates to Call a Contact
  1. Tap Contacts. Credit balance is displayed at the top.
  2. Tap on a contact name and the rate to call that person is displayed.
Use of Android Wear Watch
  • Respond to chat messages by choosing from five preset responses.
  • Respond to chat messages using voice-to-text.
  • Reject calls with a double tap and reply with an automated response.
Use of Apple Watch

Minimum requirements for the Apple Watch is iPhone 5 with iOS 8.2 or later.

  • Answer calls, including Call Waiting.
  • Switch between Active and On-Hold calls
  • Respond to chat messages using voice-to-text.
  • Reject incoming call.
  • Browse recent calls.
  • Set a reminder to return a call.

Video Calls and Chat Options

Place a Video Call
  1. Tap Contacts.
  2. Tap the contact with whom you want to share a video call.
  3. Tap the Video icon.
Send Chat Messages

Send Plain Chat

  1. Tap Chat.
  2. Enter contact or tap Message icon to select contact.
  3. Enter message and tap Send.

Add Attachments

  1. Tap Contacts.
  2. Enter contact or tap Message icon to select contact.
  3. Tap Paperclip icon.
  4. Choose to attach Photo, Video, Audio Notes, Location or Contact info.
  5. Enter message (optional) and tap Send.

Create and Send Group Chat

  1. Tap Chat.
  2. Tap New Group.
  3. Tap contacts to add to group and tap Next.
  4. Enter Group Name and optional Group icon, then tap Next.
  5. Tap Done.
  6. Enter message and tap Send.

Edit or Remove Group Chat

  1. Tap Chat.
  2. Tap group name.
  3. Tap Settings icon.
  4. Select option: Edit, Add Participants or Delete and Exit Group.

Helpful Hints

Use of Call Settings

You can set the connection (network) type used to place calls in Call Settings.

  • Mobile Plan Minutes Only is best used in areas with a poor data connection.
  • Quick Connection Settings provides you with the option to connect using Wi-Fi / 3G/4G (default) or your mobile plan minutes. Once set up under Call Settings, a Connection icon is available on the Keypad within the app.

To set up:

  1. Open Vonage Mobile App.
  2. Tap More.
  3. Tap Call Settings.

NOTE: If you are using Vonage Mobile with a non-US phone number, Call Settings is not available. Instead, when placing calls Wi-Fi is used and if not available, cellular data (3G/4G) will be used. This is similar to how incoming calls is handled.

International Use

Make sure the Vonage Mobile app is set to Wi-Fi only by tapping More and then Call Settings. To avoid incurring charges from your mobile carrier, do the following:

  1. Turn the mobile phone Wi-Fi setting on.
  2. Connect to a Wi-Fi network and make calls.
Link More than Five Devices

You can link up to five devices to the primary account at the same time. If you want to replace one of the five with a different device, just sign out of the device you do not want to use, then link the new device as described (on left).

To sign out of a device, tap More and then tap About Vonage Mobile.

Support for Smart Watches

If you cannot pair your Apple Watch or Android Wear with Vonage Mobile or notifications do not appear, contact the watch manufacturer for support.
